Bluebook
Bluebook is the application every digital SAT is taken in — College Board's own software, installed on the student's or school's device, used for both the real test and the official full-length practice tests.

Why it matters
Bluebook is not optional and it is not a study app. It is the exam room. Everything about test day runs through it: the timer, the annotation tools, the built-in Desmos calculator, the reference sheet and the answer entry. A student who has never opened it before test day is learning the interface and the questions at the same time.
What people get wrong
Two things. First, people assume the practice tests inside Bluebook are the same as the real administration — they use the same engine, but a practice result is not a scored SAT and tends to read optimistically. Second, the device rules are stricter than expected: managed school Chromebooks in particular need the app installed by an administrator, which is not something a student can fix on the morning.
