Do students with extended time have to stay for the full time?

By Updated 1 September 2026

Under the rule introduced in spring 2025, students sit the full duration of each approved extended-time module rather than moving ahead early. Secondary sources describe this inconsistently, so check College Board's own SSD update log for the current wording before test day rather than relying on a summary.

Because secondary write-ups of this rule disagree with one another, the only reliable source is College Board's own SSD update log. Check it in the week before the test rather than relying on anything written earlier, including guidance from a school that has not tested a student under the rule yet.
