Every fall 2026 date follows the same 13-day gap, and College Board publishes a release date — not a release hour, which is the source of most of the panic on the morning itself.

The 2026–27 testing year continues on 6 March, 1 May and 5 June 2027, but College Board has not yet published score release dates for those administrations. If the 13-day pattern holds they would fall on 19 March, 14 May and 18 June 2027 — treat those as inference, not as published dates, and check the official schedule before planning a deadline around them.
Why 13 days, when the test is digital?
The obvious question, and the answer is the interesting part: the wait is not a queue. Digital delivery removed the scanning and shipping that used to dominate the paper-era turnaround, which is why the gap fell from about three weeks to under two. What it did not remove is equating.
Every administered SAT form is slightly different in difficulty. Equating is the statistical step that sets the raw-to-scaled conversion table for your specific form, so that a 1400 earned in August means the same thing as a 1400 earned in December. It cannot begin until enough responses are in to model the form, which is why the wait is measured in days rather than minutes and why it is the same length regardless of how many people sat that date.
It is also why no score calculator can be exact. College Board publishes no single canonical conversion table, because there isn't one — each form carries its own, released only with that form's scores. Any tool that promises a precise scaled score from a raw count is overselling, including ours, which reports an estimate with a band for exactly this reason.
Scores come out in waves, not at an hour
This is the single most useful thing to know on release day. College Board publishes a date and says most scores are available on it. It does not commit to a time, and in practice scores appear across the whole day and occasionally roll into the next one.
So a blank screen at 8 a.m. means nothing at all. It does not mean your score is withheld, delayed, under review, or lost. Refreshing on a five-minute cycle is a way to spend a day badly. Check in the morning, check again in the evening, and if it is still not there the following day, then it is worth contacting College Board.
School Day scores work differently
If you took the SAT during a school day rather than on a weekend, none of the table above applies. School Day administrations run inside a window that each school chooses, so there is no single national test date and no single release date attached to it. Scores typically appear two to four weeks after the school's own testing day, and your school counsellor will usually know the specific date before you do.
The score itself is identical in every way that matters. Same content, same scale, same admissions weight, and it superscores alongside your weekend sittings.
What lands with the score
The report is more than the total. You get:
- Total score, 400–1600.
- Two section scores, 200–800 each, for Reading & Writing and for Math.
- Percentiles, both nationally representative and against the actual cohort of SAT takers. These differ, sometimes by a lot, and the second is the one admissions officers effectively see.
- Knowledge and skills feedback — performance by domain, not by question.
What you do not get is the questions. The Question-and-Answer Service was discontinued with the move to digital and, as of the 2026 test-prep briefing, has not returned despite what College Board itself described as near-unanimous requests from test-prep professionals. You will never see which items you missed on a real administration — only which domains. Sending scores: the deadline inside the deadline
You get four free score reports if you request them within nine days of the test — which, note, is before you see your score. After that window each report costs around $13–15. Fee waivers cover unlimited score reports and remove the question entirely.
Whether to send blind is a real decision rather than an obvious one. If you are confident and applying broadly, four free sends are worth real money. If you are unsure, paying later for reports you actually want to send is cheaper than the alternative, and most colleges superscore anyway.
